5 Cabernets for International Cabernet Sauvignon Day

August 28, 2019

In honor of International Cabernet Sauvignon Day (August 29), we decided to put together a list of 5 amazing Cabernets to celebrate. These wines capture the unique aspects of what a Cabernet Sauvignon is.

2016 Sebastiani Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma County
Sebastiani Head Winemaker, David Nakaji, describes this wine as having aromas of dried cranberries, bergamot tea, and vanilla wafer. On the tongue, there are flavors of black cherry, baking spices, and dried herbs. What makes this wine special is that it comes from Sebastiani; a century-old winery located in the heart of Sonoma. Pair this with our Cabernet Braised Short Ribs.

2016 Roth Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley
90 Points – Wine & Spirits
This Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is layered with flavors of blackberry, red currant, dark chocolate, and vanilla. With aromas of black cherry, cassis, wet stone, and sweet oak, it’s perfect to pair with beef tenderloin and a balsamic glaze.

2016 Three Rivers Estate Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Walla Walla
Located in Columbia Valley, Three Rivers Winery sits on a beautiful 16-acre property. Their 2016 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon has concentrated blackberry, cola, and cherry pie aromas. It is fruit-forward with rich dark fruit flavors and just a hint of charcoal and wet stone. This wine would pair beautifully with meatloaf (or beef tenderloin) and creamy mashed potatoes.

2014 Guenoc Cabernet Sauvignon, Lake County AVA
It’s no secret that Cabernet and burgers pair wonderfully together. Pair this Cabernet Sauvignon from Guenoc in Lake County with a juicy burger, such as this Brie, Fig, and Prosciutto Burger. It has aromas of dark cherry, white pepper, and oak with a hint of vanilla and lavender. On the tongue, you’ll notice flavors of cherry, blackberry jam, white pepper, and a hint of leather.

2016 Eos Cabernet Sauvignon, Central Coast
Eos is located in sunny Paso Robles where this Cabernet Sauvignon is produced. This Cabernet has blackberry, cassis, and cigar box aromas. With flavors of black cherry and a slight earthiness, try pairing this wine with our Grilled Sonoma Lamb Loin.
