This wine has fruit-forward aromas of crisp apple, lemon custard, and tropical fruit. The hint of toasted oak adds depth and character to the palate.
Fruit for our 2013 Chardonnay was selected from premier vineyard sites throughout the Central Coast. The Central Coast AVA is one of the largest and most important grape growing regions in California. Its boundaries stretch from Santa Barbara County in the south all the way up to San Francisco in the north. With a climate that is cool, windy and arid, thanks to the influence of the ever-present Pacific Ocean, it’s no wonder that Chardonnay accounts for half of the total acreage planted here. By sourcing fruit from a variety of vineyards with different growing conditions, we are able to make a more complex and balanced wine.
2013 was a prime vintage in the Central Coast. Despite the lack of rainfall, the timing of the growth of the vines was perfect with budbreak beginning in the second week of March. The warm spring led to a slightly earlier bloom and fruit set, but the overall fruit came in looking gorgeous. Harvest began in the beginning of September and finished on the first of November 2013.
