2013 Eos Late Harvest Petite Sirah Port, North Coast (375ml)
The five acre Serpentine Meadow Vineyard, of which the fruit for this wine was sourced, takes its name from solidified magma, high in magnesium content, fractured to form the devigorating soils found here. Long a source of remarkable Petite Sirah in the North Coast, this moderately dense planting creates small vines, clusters and berries that are deeply hued and offer lovely blackberry flavors, unusually polished tannins and exquisite balance. The diurnal temperature swings of the North Coast produce fruit that is rich, high-character and concentrated.
The fruit for this Petite Sirah Port was sourced from the North Coast appellation in Lake County, California. 2013 was yet another beautiful vintage. Diurnal temperature swings brought warm days and cool nights, translating to wonderful maturity. The fruit was left on the vine until mid-October, allowing the sugars to further develop. Harvest occurred from October 16 – October 17, 2013.
This is the inaugural vintage of our Late Harvest Petite Sirah Port. Dark and dense, this Port displays spicy aromas of black pepper and vanilla. Flavors of black fruit with a moderate sweetness are followed by rich tannins. A mix of classic Tawny and Ruby Port character.
