2013 Eos Single Vineyard Reserve Zinfandel, Rossini Napa Valley
The Rossini Ranch Vineyard is located at the foot of Howell Mountain, 10 minutes northeast of St. Helena. It is set in a warm, protected pocket that provides ideal conditions for Zinfandel. The site, first planted in 1891 by Italian-Swiss winemaker Carlo Rossini, is highly regarded for its decadently rich and juicy Zinfandel.
Like vintage 2012, vintage 2013 was ‘perfect’ by nearly all grape-growing standards in that yields were slightly above average, the weather was evenly warm, and fruit moved toward ideal ripeness without the fits and starts of the preceding two vintages. This produced wines with tremendous fruit flavors and textural depth.
The 2013 Rossini Zinfandel displays classic Zinfandel aromas and flavors. Subtle plum, currants, and black pepper on the nose are then complemented by a touch of oak on the finish. Supple tannins and crisp acids make this a truly enjoyable wine.
