2015 Eos Petite Sirah, Paso Robles
90 Points - Wine Enthusiast
For a region that has been growing grapes since 1797, Paso Robles has all of a sudden become one of the “hottest” AVAs in California. Located midway between Santa Barbara and Monterey, this rolling countryside is synonymous with big, rich, high-character wines. The west portion of Paso Robles enjoys a moderately cool climate thanks to the influence of the nearby Pacific Ocean. This is great ground for Chardonnay. The inland east side is warm and sunny and perfect for Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Syrah, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
2015 was another dry year in Paso Robles. An extremely mild winter led to an early bud break. There were very few frost days as our warm and mild weather defined the rest of the growing season. The fruit was harvested during September through October which was a couple weeks ahead of schedule; however, quality was high across the board.
This 2015 Petite Sirah is a succulent, wonderfully balanced wine. Powerful aromas of blackberry, currant and plum lead into a mouth of cherries, dark unsweetened chocolate, leather, coffee and violets.
Food Pairing Notes
This is a very food-friendly wine, and would pair nicely with grilled hamburger, roasted pork tacos, and beef ragu.
